Details of the Legal Internship with International Commission of Jurists 

The International Commission of Jurists is hiring a Legal Intern – Global Accountability Initiative (remote) to assist with drafting a background paper and conducting legal research for an upcoming high-level forum focused on civil and administrative accountability avenues. The internship runs until December 2025 and is part of ICJ’s Geneva-based Global Accountability Initiative.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Conduct desk research on civil, administrative, and customary accountability mechanisms.
  • Analyze and synthesize academic and practitioner materials.
  • Draft and format a comparative legal background paper.
  • Attend and report on webinars, online roundtables, and consultations.
  • Provide editorial and general research support to ICJ’s legal staff.

Eligibility

🔹 Current law student or recent law graduate (LL.M., JD, or equivalent).
🔹 Background or coursework in international human rights law, criminal law, or transitional justice.
🔹 Strong legal research and writing skills.
🔹 Demonstrated interest in accountability and access to justice.
🔹 Fluent in English (French or Spanish is a plus).
🔹 Must be eligible for university credit, funding, or a paid fellowship.

Time Commitment: Minimum 10 hours/week (flexible schedule)
